Teach the Teacher is completely free for schools to take part in as we're funded by the Ovo Foundation and #iwill fund! In fact, we actually offer microgrants of up to £90 to help you run your session (e.g. for snacks, resources, or travel).
There's no strict timeline for taking part in Teach the Teacher!
We run monthly onboardings for students to attend. After you've been onboarded you can take as long as you need to organise and run your session!
Whatever works for you works for us, just let us know when you plan on delivering your session so we can send you your digital badge to show you've taken part in the campaign.
As little or as much time as you want to!
At minimum you will be cc'd into emails between us as the students taking part from your school (for safeguarding purposes) and will need to commit one hour to attending your students final Teach the Teacher session.
At most you could support your students through the process, helping them recruit other teachers, organising their session, and working on their presentation together. It's all up to you!
As a student, you will need to commit one hour to attend your online onboarding session.
After onboarding, we'll send you all the materials you need to deliver your session. How long you spend adapting and learning these is up to you, but estimate around 2 hours total.
You will then need to commit one hour to deliver your session, so around 4 hours total!
We encourage students to run Teach the Teacher in groups of 3 or more, however if you feel confident to run the session by yourself we're happy for you to come to our next onboarding! If you do recruit friends after onboarding we can send them a recorded version to watch too.
Although we recommend 3 students run Teach the Teacher together, we're more than happy for you to run your session in a larger (or smaller) group!
All we ask is that all participating students complete an onboarding call and sign up via our website so we can send on your digital badge once you've completed your session.
Send an email to your local Teach the Teacher Campaign Coordinator (they're the person who sent you the onboarding email) and we can arrange a new date or send you a pre-recorded session and quiz for you to do in your own time.
Yes, they can!
Teach the Teacher was designed for secondary schools however we're adapting our resources for primary schools too, so stay tuned.
For secondary school students who are under 13, you'll need to provide the email address of a teacher that we can email to contact you - remember to ask them for permission first!
